Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What makes the Hornady LEVERevolution .45 Long Colt ammunition unique?

A: The Hornady LEVERevolution .45 Long Colt ammunition features innovative Flex Tip Technology, which allows for use of pointed bullets in tubular magazines. This results in higher ballistic coefficients, flatter trajectories, and up to 250 fps faster muzzle velocity compared to conventional lever gun loads. The 225 grain Flex Tip eXpanding (FTX) bullet provides exceptional accuracy and terminal performance.

Q: How does the trajectory of LEVERevolution ammo compare to standard .45 Long Colt loads?

A: LEVERevolution ammunition typically offers a significantly flatter trajectory than standard .45 Long Colt loads due to the higher ballistic coefficient of the FTX bullet and increased muzzle velocity. This flatter trajectory results in less bullet drop at extended ranges, potentially improving accuracy and simplifying shot placement for hunters and target shooters.

Q: What is the effective range of this ammunition for hunting?

A: The effective range can vary depending on the firearm and shooter, but generally, LEVERevolution ammunition can extend the practical range of .45 Long Colt to 150 yards or more. This significant improvement over traditional loads, which are typically limited to around 100 yards, is due to the FTX bullet's higher ballistic coefficient and the cartridge's increased muzzle velocity.

Q: Is this ammunition safe to use in lever-action rifles with tubular magazines?

A: Yes, the Hornady LEVERevolution ammunition is specifically designed to be safe in tubular magazines of lever-action rifles. However, Hornady does not recommend storing this ammunition in tubular magazines for extended periods, as it may result in tip deformation.

Q:  Is there a break-in period when switching to LEVERevolution ammo?

A: While there's no specific break-in period required, it's always a good idea to test any new ammunition in your firearm to familiarize yourself with its performance characteristics. Some shooters may notice slight changes in point of impact compared to their previous loads, requiring sight adjustments, so it's recommended to practice with the new ammunition before using it in critical situations.
