Breaking News: The Price of 9mm is Increasing

Posted by Jack Collins on Apr 15, 2024

Back in December last year, we reported that the price of all ammo was going up to the tune of 10 - 15%. Well, now is the time to stock up on 9mm. According to the insider info we’ve received at Southern Defense, the price of 9mm rounds will be increasing next month. Here’s the full exclusive story.

Price of 9mm Set to Increase Next Month

As much as we hate to be the bearers of bad news at Southern Defense, one of our contacts at Vista Outdoor informed us via email that the dealer price of their 9mm is going to increase by May 1. Most specific types of ammo will see a price increase of about 5%, with some brands going even higher.

This means that many popular brands are going to be more expensive, including:

Our source confirmed that these aren’t the only specific items that are going to see a price increase. They’re just some of the most popular individual items. This should give you an idea of how much other types of ammo are going to shoot up in price.

Other Brands Likely to Follow Suit

As if Vista increasing their prices wasn’t rough enough (they’re one of the biggest ammo companies in the country), they’re just the beginning. According to our source, other major ammo brands will also be increasing the price of their 9mm including:

  • Fiocchi: price goes up May 1, 2024.
  • Winchester: price goes up June 1, 2024.
  • Magtech and S&B: no official announcement yet, but expected to see a price increase as well.

Final Thoughts

If there is one bright spot to this story, it’s the reason behind these price increases. Vista’s brands produce all of their ammo in the US, and the company needs to pay for high costs of materials and American labor. So your money will be going into the pockets of American workers.

Still, this announcement is a huge bummer to all of the budget shooters out there – including me. Now, hearing that Federal and Magtech (my favorite brands for my Glocks and revolvers, respectively) are going to become even more expensive means I’m going to be eating a lot more ramen in the future.

Also, as an interesting side note, according to our source it looks like Vista Outdoors is actually moving forward with their rebranding on some of the brands as “The Kinetic Group” as they specified last year.

We’ll keep an eye on this situation as it develops. For right now, I’m about to place an order for some 9mm – I suggest you do the same.
